yay, getting ready to head to nationals and was driving around getting a few things, and I start hearing this loud whine from under my truck, I turn it off, and then back on and just before the truck trys to start the whine starts again. And then my truck barely starts, takes several trys to turn it over......fuel pump is going out. Im not happy it happend, but I am happy it did it before I hit the road.
Close call,
Later,
Chadstr

the key to extended fuel pump life never let the gas gauge go below 1/4 tank, as the fuelpump is cooled by the fuel surrounding it, when the tank gets low the pump cant cool properly adding undue stress, the when you fill up that cold gas hits the pump and in most cases "shocks" the pump and then failure is imminent. as rule of thumb 1/2 tank is empty on my truck....not to mention that when it is time to fill up its less of a punch filling a half tank rather than an empty or close to. Im still able to pull 300 to 350 miles per half tank......seems the mileage is always better on the topside of the tank........Ken
